About this Project
JLK completed façade examination and recommendations for repair and replacement for two large 1960’s era residential towers. The scope originally mandated simple aluminum window replacement. But upon studying the façade and the conditions of the 55-year old precast concrete panels facades, JLK advised the University that many of the panels were at the end of their service life and in danger of failure if subjected to replacement project.
JLK is coordinating the replacement of the windows and the dark green precast panes at both buildings. The panels and windows are being replaced with a modern insulated window wall system that will replicate the look of the mid-century façade while increasing performance. The window wall system design is historically sensitive to the existing materials and window spacing and layout.
Other scope areas include review of roof and parapet, curtain wall and entrances, and coordination with the campus architectural Review Committee.
