About this Project

JLK is the historic preservation architect and historic tax credit consultant for the rehabilitation of the Schipper and Block Department Store in downtown Peoria.

The terra cotta and brick exterior is being restored to its original early twentieth century appearance. The interior is in the process of being converted for use as the OSF Healthcare Headquarters. The 1950s Annex building and the former Super A&P Market are also being rehabilitated as part of the project.

Services include:

Completed archival research, field surveys, and a condition assessment
Facilitated historic preservation tax credit certification documentation
Provided liaison services to IHPA and preservation coordination
Created building preservation plan to ensure historic integrity retained during rehabilitation
