About this Project

JLK is working closely with the Ukrainian Church to restore their 110 year old Cathedral. This Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop and is the Headquarters of the Eparchy in the United States. Work is being undertaken in stages and according to the National Park Service Standards for Historic Preservation.

The Cathedral was well built but suffered from deferred maintenance, especially at the roof, domes, and wood art windows. Work includes research of the building, carefully assessment in conjunction with structural. The first phase of work includes roof replacement to underlayment, new details at all penetrations and gutters, and masonry pointing. The 13 copper domes are to be restored in sequence. Windows will be repaired to address water issues. The final phase is repair of plaster surfaces at the plaster interiors, lighting, and AV.

JLK is also in the process of making repairs to the adjacent elementary school. The original building dates from 1939 and is of masonry and steel construction, with a bow truss roof, which is settling and affect the roof performance. The addition is a modern design by CF Murphy and Associates. Work includes window and curtain wall replacement, roof and gutter replacement, damp proofing, new Boiler plant, upgraded electrical and AV.
