City of Chicago Offices, 2 N. LaSalle
Programming, space planning, design, and construction for over 325,000 square feet of office space.
In Phase I, JLK worked with JLL and 2FM to relocate 28 City of Chicago departments. JLK’s scope included programming and space planning, use analyses, design, and construction for 325,000 SF of office space in a $35,000,000 budget. Services included survey, space planning, and architectural design. JLK conducted departmental space use analyses, interviews, and program development for future office space needs, and created design standards for office, conference, breakout, and storage areas.
JLK delivered test fits for office space relocation on department-by-department and overall project bases. The design includes a 20,000 SF conference center, which features mock court rooms, conference rooms, and breakout spaces.
In Phase II, JLK was design lead for an additional four floors, 75,000 square foot, new office build-out at 2 N. LaSalle and relocation from 333 S. State. JLK is providing design, construction documents, permitting, and construction administration services. JLK completed use analyses and program development for the spaces previously.
JLK worked with additional City of Chicago departments in 2024 to deliver design services for Phase III, an additional floor of the new office buildout at 2 N. LaSalle. JLK continues to provide design, construction documents, permitting, bidding, and construction administration services while working with a committee of City of Chicago officials in a collaborative process to gather valuable feedback and establish direction about goals and priorities.
