About

The DreamHome is a state-of-the-art fully accessible group home located in Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood. The home enables seniors with disabilities to age in place and continue living a life of choice, independence and inclusion as their needs get more complex.

JLK Architects is the Architect of Record and worked alongside dozens of other consultants, construction companies, and the bricklayers’ union in a historic pro-bono effort to make this dream come true.

Susan Turner, FAIA led JLK Architects’ donation of architectural design services to Envision Unlimited, a Chicago-based nonprofit established in 1948 and dedicated to providing high-quality programs and services to Illinois residents with disabilities, regardless of race, gender, or financial ability. Turner was honored with an Envision Unlimited Humanitarian Award in Spring 2025 for her expertise, dedication, and generosity.
